ONLY JESUS CAN SAVE


Have you heard about Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God who died on Calvary for your sins and mine? If not turn to your new Testament, John 3.16: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." He is the Lamb of God which taketh away the sins of the world. (Jn. 1.29.)

The New Testament Christians believed that they would be saved through the blood of Christ. (Eph. 1.7.) From his creation in the garden of Eden man has shown the greatest disobedience. (Gen. 3.11.) The same disobedience continues today In the minds of people whom God created in His image. "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." (Rom. 3.23.)

We inherited death as a result of disobedience. But through Jesus Christ we are saved. "But not as the offense, so also is the free gift: for if through the offense of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many." (Rom. 5.15.) "But thanks be to God which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." (I Cor. 13.57.)

Dear reader, have you observed that some people in different races worship different objects; some gather stones and call them their god; some carve images in sticks, bronze and brass and some have another mediator such as Mary. The end of this will be destruction. (I Tim. 2.5.) Proverbs 16.25 says, "There is a way that seemeth right unto a man but the end thereof are the ways of death" any have erred because they do not know that the Word of God is the power to save; the power of God to save is revealed in the Gospel. (Rom. 1. 16.)

Friend, think once more about those who have gathered stones and carved images for protection. Where are they? Death has taken them. "As it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment." (Heb. 9.27.) Death is a reality whereby you will pass on to receive your reward. Why do you trust in these vain things which have no life? I encourage you to trust in Jesus because He has the word of life. (John 6.68.) Only He will save you as your mediator.

Dear friend, Jesus Is calling you with a meek voice. (Matt. 11.28.) 1 know that you are laboring to serve God through these vain things, but you should know that God does not want you to worship Him in that way. It is only in Jesus that you will find rest. I wish you to be like the Bereans. "They received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures whether those things were so." (Acts 17.11.)

You may be like Nicodemus who came to Jesus at night because of fear. (John 3.1-5.) You may say they will say I am a coward changing from one church to another. You may ask how can I leave the gods of my family? Who will sacrifice for them? All these reasons have made you not accept the gospel which is the power of God to salvation. But you should know that these are not excuses before God. ONLY JESUS CAN SAVE! In Him many blessings are found. "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ." (Eph. 1.3.)

Finally, worshipping any object will not save you. The teachings of men on what they think will not save you but will make your worship void. (Mark 7.6- 7.) Make friends with your New Testament. It will show you the way of eternal life. Today is the day of acceptance. (2 Cor. 6.2.) Therefore, when you hear His voice, do not harden your heart. (Heb. 3.8.) Knock, it will be opened for you. Call upon Him when He answers because tomorrow may be too late. In so doing you will know the truth and the truth will make you free. (John 8.32.) The truth will make you want to be a member of the church of Christ. Continue steadfastly in the apostles' teachings and the crown of life will be yours on the last day.

Death is knocking. Judgment is fast approaching. It will be when you think not. Only Jesus will save.
